Department of Homeland Security announced today that effective immediately certain young people will be eligible for deferred action, which will allow them to remain and legally work in the United States. To be eligible, the person has to: 1) Have come into the United States before the age of sixteen (16); Be between the ages of 15-30 years old; 2) Be physically present in the United States continuously since June 15, 2007; 3) Currently be in school, have graduated from high school, or have obtained a GED, or served in the military; and 4) Have no serious criminal convictions.
